Day 1: Juan Santamaria Airport – San José

Arrival at San José airport. Welcome and private transfer to the hotel in San José.

Day 2: San José – Guapiles – Tortuguero B,L,D

Group transfer from your hotel by minibus + boat to Tortuguero, breakfast en route. Boarding the boat through the Tortuguero canals.

Stroll along the lodge trails or to the beach, or relax at the hotel (beautiful pool), frog garden, botanical garden, butterfly enclosure…

Day 3: Tortuguero B,L,D

Explore the gallery forest of Tortuguero with a local English-speaking guide. Numerous possible sightings: monkeys, sloths, herons, toucans, iguanas, basilisks…

In the early afternoon, excursion to Cerro Tortuguero.

From July to October only: in the evening, a walk on the Tortuguero beach with a local guide to try to observe the nesting of green turtles. An unforgettable experience!

Day 4: Tortuguero – Guapiles – Sarapiqui B, L

Departure around 9:00 AM for your return boat trip on the large Tortuguero canals to Caño Blanco, then by bus and arrival at Restaurant Selva Tropical in Guapiles (lunch included).

Delivery of your rental car.

Departure by car to the agricultural valley of Sarapiquí.

Day 5: Sarapiqui – Arenal B, L

Visit to Finca Sura, off-the-beaten-path tour of an authentic organic pineapple plantation. Typical lunch on site allowing you to taste the fresh products of Finca Sura.

Drive to La Fortuna de San Carlos and the impressive Arenal Volcano.

Day 6: Arenal B, D

Free walk on the trails of Arenal Volcano National Park. The wildlife is rich: you can see three species of monkeys, sometimes peccaries, toucans, and many birds. Return to the hotel.

In the late afternoon, access to the hot springs at Ecotermales for a swim and relaxation. Buffet dinner is included on site.

Day 7: Arenal – Carara B

Drive to the Pacific coast.

Possibility to stop at the Tárcoles River for observing large crocodiles or to participate in a boat tour on the Tárcoles River with an English-speaking local Crocodile Man Tour guide.

Accommodation in a hotel located between the coast and the marshes. A very suitable area for birdwatching.

Day 8: Carara – Manuel Antonio B

Free visit to Carara National Park. This is a privileged place for birdwatching with over 350 species recorded, including the famous Scarlet Macaw!

Continuation to Manuel Antonio, in a region specialized in palm oil production.

Day 9: Manuel Antonio National Park – San José B

Guided tour in English of Manuel Antonio National Park, which protects magnificent white sandy beaches surrounded by the rainforest. Numerous animal sightings are possible: white-faced capuchin monkeys, squirrel monkeys, coatis, sloths, iguanas… In the sky, pelicans and frigates complete the picture.

Free early afternoon to enjoy the beautiful white sand beaches of the national park.

Return drive to the capital. Check-in at the hotel and return of your rental car at the end of the day.

Day 10: San José – Juan Santamaria Airport B

If your flight is in the late afternoon:

Private transfer to the airport. Departure flight.
